I was never nice enough to give them away, but I did bin 8 at one time. I originally had one on every toon, but decided it was a waste of space. I tried to sell them for 1K, no bites, so in the bin they went.
I already regretted that decision, a month later, when GW:EN launched. Now it's time for double regrets? Come on ANet, what on earth is the thinking for rewarding players for holding onto a second pet, that was only available a year ago?

I think you missed the point. ANET shouldn't make the mini pig a requirement to get the new mini from the collector. It isn't fair to those that gave away their mini pigs to those that didn't have one.

If you are upset at people who accept gifts and use them for non-festive or positive deeds, then I agree with you.
If you are upset at ANet about something related to it, then I think you are spoiled. There is no understanding of how this might work. I heavily doubt, especially with the "polar bear fiasco" as it was called, that they would restrict a new mini to "multi pig holders". I am quite sure there will be an alternative way to get the "celestial surprises" other than just a pig trade in. I have ten dollars down on the bet that the "celestial surprises" are lunar fortunes (fits the bill huh?). If not, and it is a non-rat mini, then I guarantee there will be another way to acquire it.
If I am wrong, then yes, that is a bad flow choice, but you have no idea, so QQing about it makes you look oh so selfish. I say we wait and not jump to conclusions, as it only hurts you in the end. Remember everyone buying pigs for 100k last year and then QQing about it. I laughed. Impatience grants nothing to your well being.

"Special Miniature Rewards
In addition to the festival rewards mentioned above, two special miniatures will be available this year. For those lucky enough to receive multiple miniature pigs during last year’s celebration, look for a special collector with a celestial surprise for you."
Doesn´t sound like there is much misinterpretation possible.

I think i trashed mine because no one wanted them. Considering the crappy limited storage in game, I made a wise choice as far as I'm concerned and am not going to lose sleep over this bizarre retrofitting of the pig's value.

I know. People just loathe hindsight and lack the inability to move on.
Another "Humanity Boggles the Mind" Moment: People complain about too many pigs, Anet offers up a solution, people complain about the solution.
Hold me please, I think I've sprained my humanity.

Were the solution added last year noone would have complained. Now it is just too late to be a good idea.

*SPECULATION*
The designers had a load of these pigs themselves. They can't be bothered to grind out their money in the new loot scaled enironment like the rest of us.
=SOLUTION=
Drastically increase the value of one of the, previously, most worthless, non-merchable, objects in the game.
Sell pigs or new mini in newly invigorated minipet market
WIN!!!

it says:
For those lucky enough to receive multiple miniature pigs.
Ok now receiving because of luck is something, receiving buy buying off from someone is something else. I want some clarifications about it. Furthermore I think that it is just common dumbness, people trying to scam other people by making them think it's a new mini released NOW for this update. Just wait few days and mini pigs will be crap again.

Is the collector there yet, or not until friday? It's a bit ambiguous as to when the collector will be there, and I'm at work so I can't tell.
I only have one mini pig, but that's because I got like 3 from the festival and then trashed them because I needed the storage space for mods and inscriptions and hero runes XD. Curious to see what we get in exchange for the mini pig, if it's something cooler I might trade mine in for it.
I really hope it's something stupid like tokens or fortunes that you get for trading in a pig, that way all the people who actually donated their extra pigs don't feel completely gypped. Also hope it's not like 'get a stack of fortunes for trading your pig, and cross your fingers and hope you get a special mini from the fortunes' because that'd be just as dumb as the polar bear hunt.

They're likely not going to be restricted to multiple pig owners. I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to trade your mini pig for the new mini. So, what they're saying is that if you trade your only mini pig for the new mini, bye-bye mini pig.
And the people selling mini pigs for 100k likely have more than one or two, so no, it's probably not the people you gave your pigs away trying to sell them for 100k.

I will rehighlight the section that disproves you:
"In addition to the festival rewards mentioned above, two special miniatures will be available this year. For those lucky enough to receive multiple miniature pigs during last year’s celebration, look for a special collector with a celestial surprise for you."
Might NOT be a pet, and if it is, a celestial surprise would most likely be the new rat. But of course, the entire point I am trying to make is that no one knows. Is QQing becoming a precognitive defect?
